Legacy of the Award

Parker Maurie was a beloved founding member of the Sacramento Area Alarm Association and a well respected member of the business community and most importantly a genuine, kind and caring man. Parker was involved in his local alarm business, the alarm association, and volunteered to assist troubled teens. Even with the onset of cancer he never stopped doing things for others.

Prior to Parker’s passing in 1994, then President of the S.A.A.A., Patty Hartman went to the State Assembly and had then State Assembly Speaker; Willie Brown sign a “Letter of Accommodation” for the efforts and personal sacrifice that Parker had made to help the security industry and others.

This special award was presented to Parker Maurie at the June 1994 S.A.A.A. general meeting. Parker’s wife Elaine along with Andy Anderson, another founding member of the S.A.A.A., presented this special award to Parker. Parker would soon lose his battle with cancer and passed away in August of 1994.

That same year the Parker Maurie Memorial Award was established in memory of one of our own true industry icons. The award is to be given to those individuals who go “above and beyond” their duties on behalf of the Sacramento Area Alarm Association. The Parker Maurie Memorial Award is not an annual award, but one that is given when the board of directors collectively feels that special recognition is warranted.

The inscription on the Parker Maurie Memorial Award reads as follows;

"For Outstanding Efforts"
"You have accepted the challenge to soar above the world and to overcome barriers to success that would have caused others to falter and fail. You have been decisive where others have hesitated. You are recognized as a leader for your efforts. Truly, you are an inspiration…like the Majestic Eagle."
