The S.A.A.A. Youth Scholarship Program offers funds to students of a member of our association in the State of California. This can be an employee or family member of an Installer, Office worker, Distributor, Manufacturer, Dispatcher or Owner. Each 2011 applicant had to submit an essay explaining: “WHAT TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE INTRODUCED IN THE SECURITY INDUSTRY, AND HOW?” The essays were judged on grammar and content, and should reinforce the important role that our industry plays in our community. The definition of the security industry is open to the interpretation of the author. Related security fields include, but are not limited, to Fire Life Safety, CCTV, Biometrics, Intrusion, Identity Theft Prevention, or Communication.

The awards were presented at the S.A.A.A. Holiday Party on December 1st, 2011.

1st Place $1,000.00 Donald Snider
2nd Place $ 500.00 Sierra Wallace
3rd Place $ 250.00 Brandon Culmer

A copy of Donald Snider's winning effort entitled "Technology to Reduce the Strain on Alarm Responders" is attached above. I recommend checking it out. It is a good read!
